about

“E – Part Four of H.A.T.E” is recorded by Swedish progressive- and melodic metal band Akribi.

H.A.T.E is the mirror project to Sofia Talvik's L.O.V.E project, where 4 rock bands make their own versions of the songs from L.O.V.E.

In a sea of generic female-fronted metal bands, Akribi blatantly defies the worn-out gothic/operatic formula, staying uncompromisingly true to its progressive- and melodic metal roots. Based in the Swedish metal capital of Gothenburg, Akribi delivers its own brand of metal influenced by genre-defining acts such as Dream Theater, Symphony X and Marillion, but also by bands far outside the progressive genre.

Their debut album "Black Morning Sun" has recently been released to great acclaim, with reviewers calling it: "a jewel of an album, and a must have for fans of new progressive metal" and "premier league prog metal immaculately recorded with impeccable sound", with the band being called: "one of the best female fronted progressive metal bands I've ever heard".

The origins of the band can be traced back to 2003, when David Lidell and Andreas Tiberto formed a band with the shared goal of creating music that comprised both strong songwriting and elaborate musicianship. After numerous changes in lineup, Alexander Bringsoniou and André Berntsson joined the band in 2006, finally forming a solid foundation for the band from which it would continue to evolve. An extensive search for a unique voice to complement the music brought Jessica Åhman to the band in 2008. A similarly arduous process resulted in Sven Funseth, having recently returned from Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, assuming the position behind the drums in 2011.

With a newly released CD and the further release of a special collaboration EP imminent, Akribi is currently planning a range of live shows, the recording of a new music video and various different collaborations, all while working tirelessly on new material.

about

We all know the Swedes can write a mean pop songs – but what about folk songs? Well, one artist is nonchalantly transferring ... more the charm and fun found in most pop songs into sweet, acoustic twang. Sofia Talvik, brings bubbly blonde ambition to this raw and often quiet genre with a captivating breath of fresh air. less
